This grant program supports fire safety measures in densely built wooden house areas of cultural and historical value in Norway. The grant is provided from the state budget for 2025 and 2026 and aims to contribute to fire safety in specific dense wooden house areas. The program is administered by Buskerud County Municipality in collaboration with the Directorate for Cultural Heritage (Riksantikvaren). Eligible applicants include municipalities and private owners or managers of buildings and facilities within these designated areas. Municipalities typically apply for grants on behalf of property owners. The Directorate for Cultural Heritage defines which areas are eligible under this program. Funding can be used for measures that contribute to rapid fire detection, prevent fire spread, and facilitate easy firefighting, including the development of fire safety plans. Priority is given based on cultural-historical value, accessibility for fire services, effectiveness of proposed measures, and innovative approaches that can be transferred to other areas. The program particularly encourages municipalities with outdated or missing fire safety plans to apply for funding to develop comprehensive plans.
