The Catherine H. Beattie Fellowship in Conservation Horticulture promotes conservation of rare and endangered flora in the United States through the programs of the Center for Plant Conservation, Escondido, California. This fellowship provides one annual research grant of up to $4,500, regarded as compensation for work at a botanical garden by the student, who jointly serves the mission of the Center For Plant Conservation and their curricular studies through the study and conservation of rare and endangered plants. The fellowship was established to honor Catherine H. Beattie, GCA president (1981-1983), outstanding arranger, and gardener devoted to the preservation of wildflowers. Selection is made by the Science Advisory Council of the Center for Plant Conservation and is approved by the GCA Scholarship Committee.
