Steno Collaborative Grants

Novo Nordisk Foundation

The Steno Collaborative Grants are designed to strengthen collaboration between the Steno Diabetes Centers and research environments related to the Centers. The Novo Nordisk Foundation supports research projects with a unifying and collaborative mission to develop knowledge, exchange experience across research institutions, and facilitate synergy between research environments around the Steno Diabetes Centers. The grants aim to strengthen clinical, patient-centered, and collaborative research between the Steno Diabetes Centers and research environments outside the Centers, while positioning Denmark at an international level in improving prevention and care for persons with diabetes or at risk of diabetes. Projects must be collaborative with a unifying vision focused on solving challenges within clinical diabetes research, comprising a main applicant and two to five co-applicants from Steno Diabetes Centers or partner institutions. International collaboration is strongly encouraged.

Lundbeck Foundation and Novo Nordisk Foundation Body-Brain Interdisciplinary Projects

Novo Nordisk Foundation and Lundbeck Foundation

The Novo Nordisk Foundation and the Lundbeck Foundation have a shared interest in supporting research that deepens our understanding of the interactions between the brain and periphery in health and disease. This initiative aims to enhance the mechanistic understanding of body-brain interactions in health and disease, particularly focusing on cardiometabolic diseases (CMDs) and nervous system disorders (NSDs). The program fosters European collaborative and interdisciplinary research projects with a significant focus on scientific excellence. Strong projects will be of a collaborative nature, bridging different research disciplines such as neuroscience, metabolism, endocrinology, physiology, neurology, psychiatry, medicine, epidemiology, immunology, and nutrition, with a unifying aim of improving mechanistic understanding of body-brain interactions in health and/or disease while addressing specific knowledge gaps. By addressing critical knowledge gaps, this programme is expected to lead to novel discoveries ultimately improving diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and understanding of these interconnected health issues.

Steno National Collaborative Grant 2026

Novo Nordisk Foundation

The Steno National Collaborative Grant aims to strengthen clinical research between all Danish Steno Diabetes Centres. The Novo Nordisk Foundation wishes to strengthen the collaboration between the Steno Diabetes Centres and the research environments related to the Centres. The foundation will support research projects with a unifying mission to develop knowledge, to exchange experience across the research institutions and to facilitate synergy between the research environments around the Steno Diabetes Centres including collaborations from hospitals, universities and other non-profit institutions in Denmark and/or internationally. The grant supports large-scale, long-term, patient-centred clinical research projects involving a national cohort of diabetes patients or people at risk of diabetes. The collaborative projects aim to position Denmark at an international level in improving prevention and care for persons with diabetes or at risk of diabetes.

Excellence Emerging Investigator Grant within Endocrinology and Metabolism – Nordic Region

Novo Nordisk Foundation

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Excellence Emerging Investigator Grant within Endocrinology and Metabolism aims to support and strengthen the development of young and promising research leaders, and to promote Nordic research at a high international level. The call is targeted at starting group leaders with ambitious projects within endocrinology and metabolism that aim to understand the human organism and the mechanisms underlying health and disease at both basic and clinical levels. The overall goal is to obtain new knowledge and better treatment or prevention of disease relevant to the human organism within the areas of endocrinology and metabolism, relating to cellular energy homeostasis, and hormonal disorders of the endocrine system. Areas supported include research involving patients and clinical practice but could also include animal models, model organisms, cellular or sub-cellular systems with clear whole body relevance, as well as in silico analysis. Research projects within all subfields of endocrinology, including thyroid, reproduction, or bone and calcium metabolism can be supported. Up to four grants are available with at least one grant aimed at active clinician researchers.
