Matthew R. Enright Award for Experiential Learning
Established in 2016 by Mr. and Mrs. David Walter in memory of their son, Matthew R. Enright, to support undergraduate electrical engineering majors at the University at Buffalo. The award provides funds to support an unpaid summer internship or comparable experiential learning opportunity relevant to the academic program. Applicants must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA and must have been employed at least part-time during the prior academic year and/or demonstrate financial need. Domestic students are required to complete the FAFSA and international students must submit a financial need statement in the general application. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the academic year.
Frederick H. Thomas Memorial Scholarship
The Frederick H. Thomas Memorial Scholarship was established in 1982 by Mrs. Patricia T. Thomas to support students in the industrial engineering field. This scholarship is awarded to students who are industrial engineering majors in good academic standing at the University at Buffalo. The award provides financial support of up to $2,000 to help recipients pursue their studies in the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences. Eligible students must be enrolled in the Industrial and Systems Engineering program and maintain good academic standing throughout their enrollment.
David M. Benenson Memorial Scholarship Fund
The David M. Benenson Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2002 by Lydia K. Benenson, Kathleen A. Ratcliffe and Patricia J. Bernecki, the wife and daughters of Dr. David M. Benenson. This scholarship supports engineering students who have demonstrated professional engagement through internship experiences. The scholarship recognizes academic achievement, practical experience, and interpersonal skills essential for engineering careers. Recipients must be engineering majors who have completed an internship in the past year, maintain at least a 3.20 GPA in their core curriculum, and demonstrate strong leadership qualities and ability to work effectively in teams.
Barbara and Jack Davis Engineering Education Endowment Fund
The Barbara and Jack Davis Engineering Education Endowment Fund was established in 2012 by Mr. John R. Davis, Jr., BS '55, and Mrs. Barbara J. Davis to support engineering students at the University at Buffalo. This scholarship is specifically designed to assist incoming freshmen or current undergraduate students who are accepted engineering majors and demonstrate financial need. Applicants must be U.S. citizens residing in one of the following Western New York counties: Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Ontario, Orleans, Wayne, or Wyoming. The scholarship provides financial support up to $10,000 to help students pursue their engineering education. Recipients must complete the FAFSA to demonstrate financial need. The scholarship emphasizes the importance of maintaining a connection to the Western New York region, requiring applicants to describe their ties to WNY and whether they were raised in the area.
