TransAlta Corporation Memorial Scholarship
The TransAlta Corporation Memorial Scholarship is offered annually to continuing undergraduate students entering second year in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary. This scholarship was established by TransAlta Corporation in memory of G.A. Gaherty, late Chairperson of the Board of Calgary Power Ltd. (now known as TransAlta Corporation). The scholarship recognizes academic merit and supports students pursuing engineering studies. Five awards are available annually, distributed across engineering departments: one award each in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, and two awards in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Each scholarship provides $750 to the recipient.
Seymour Schulich Academic Excellence Entrance Scholarship for Calgary Area Residents
The Seymour Schulich Academic Excellence Entrance Scholarship for Calgary Area Residents is offered annually to undergraduate students entering first year in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary. This prestigious scholarship recognizes exceptional academic merit and provides substantial financial support to students from the Calgary area. The award is valued at $15,200 per year and is renewable in the second and third years at the University of Calgary, providing continued support throughout the student's undergraduate engineering studies. To maintain the scholarship, recipients must remain enrolled in the Schulich School of Engineering and achieve a minimum GPA of 3.50 in the previous fall and winter terms based on a full course load of at least 30 units. Eligibility requires that the student's permanent home address is within 100 kilometres of the Calgary city centre, though international students are also eligible for this award.
Pason Memorial Scholarship in Software Engineering
The Pason Memorial Scholarship in Software Engineering was established by Pason Systems Corporation in memory of Systems Engineer Bennie Vorster. This scholarship recognizes outstanding software engineering students who demonstrate academic excellence. Offered annually to continuing students enrolled in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary, the award is specifically designated for students majoring in Software Engineering. The scholarship provides financial support up to $5,000 per recipient, with two awards available each year. Selection is based on academic merit, rewarding students who have achieved excellence in their software engineering studies.
