Scotiabank Scholarship Series
The Scotiabank Scholarship Series is granted annually to students in the Bachelor of Integrated Studies Program (BIS) in the Fall semester (September) at the University of Prince Edward Island who are in the greatest financial need. Preference is given to students entering their first year of study. This scholarship is part of Scotiabank's commitment to education, focusing on direct student support through scholarships and programs that improve access to learning. The award was established through a $100,000 commitment from Scotiabank to the University of Prince Edward Island in support of scholarships. As Canada's most international bank, Scotiabank has formed unique partnerships between Canadian institutions and those in countries where they conduct business.
Royal Commonwealth Society (PEI Branch) Award
Awarded annually to a UPEI student from a Commonwealth country in any field of study. The award is based on academic excellence and need. It seeks to recognize students who will use their studies to contribute to the development of their country of origin. Preference will be given to a student who is not normally resident in Canada. The Royal Commonwealth Society's purpose is to promote the increase and spread of knowledge respecting the people's and countries of the Commonwealth. This is pursued by the formation of regional branches and through a variety of educational activities. Awards provide incentive and recognize and promote academic excellence among the student body. They also assist students in overcoming financial barriers which otherwise could jeopardize the successful completion of their studies.
Ronald J. Baker Alumni Scholarship
The Ronald J. Baker Alumni Scholarship is awarded to a full-time student entering their second year at the University of Prince Edward Island who achieved the highest average while carrying at least a normal load of five courses per semester in their first year program. This scholarship recognizes academic performance and is stackable with other UPEI awards, meaning recipients can receive additional funding from other university scholarships and awards simultaneously.
Project Hero Scholarship
The Project Hero Scholarship is awarded to a dependent of a Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) personnel who was deceased while serving in an active mission. This scholarship provides financial support to eligible students who are under the age of twenty-six and registered full time in an undergraduate program at the University of Prince Edward Island. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic standing throughout their studies to continue receiving the scholarship.
Prince Edward Island Service Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was created as a companion memorial to the Prince Edward Island Service Memorial Fountain in Queen Square. Scholarships will support students who are family members of those who have served and have themselves volunteered service to their community, province and country. The Prince Edward Island Service Memorial Fountain located in Queen Square, Charlottetown, commemorates the service of Prince Edward Islanders in Canada's Armed Forces in the interest of peace and security in our nation, both within our borders and around the world. It also recognizes the service and sacrifice of police and peace officers who maintain law and order, and members of our fire service who protect our lives and property. The scholarship is awarded to a student who is a PEI resident, serves/served, or has ancestors or family members who served, in the Canadian Armed Forces, Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Air Force, Royal Canadian Sea, Army or Air Cadets.
