SFKH Stipendium
Sveriges Förbund för Kroppslig Hälsa offers an annual scholarship of 5,000 SEK to students at Swedish universities and colleges. The scholarship is aimed at students writing bachelor's or master's theses with a focus on physical health. The goal of the scholarship is to promote increased understanding of physical health, as the organization believes this can contribute to new and improved treatment methods within digital healthcare in the long term. The scholarship is open year-round with the exception of one week before the winner is announced on June 1st each year. Applications are accepted from students across various disciplines including economics, psychology, law, and health-related fields, as long as the thesis relates to physical health in some way.
Karolinska Institutets Stiftelsestipendier
Karolinska Institutet announces annual foundation scholarships for students. Applications can be made based on scientific merit and/or for economic need. Awards are distributed from several different foundations following proposals from a scholarship committee. All registered students at undergraduate and graduate levels at KI, with at least 1 year of completed study time, are eligible to apply. The remaining study time must extend at least through the spring semester of 2026. For those applying for economic need, priority is given to applicants who are not entitled to student aid or have limited student aid. Eligible to apply on scientific merit are those who have done scientific work other than project work/thesis within undergraduate or graduate education and are not doctoral students or have defended their doctorate. Applications for travel funds are not granted.
Projekt (Project Grant)
The Swedish Cancer Society's Project Grant funds cancer research that can lead to better understanding, prevention, earlier diagnosis, or more effective and gentle treatment of cancer diseases (including palliative and rehabilitative treatment). The perspective is very broad and applications are welcomed from researchers in many different fields including medicine, nursing science, pharmacy, natural sciences, technology, social sciences, public health sciences, and behavioral and communication sciences. Project grants are primarily intended for researchers with PhDs who have scientific merits corresponding to associate professor competence and/or independence as a research leader (PI). Applicants must have defended their doctoral thesis before January 1, 2023. The grant is awarded as a framework grant for personnel and operational costs and can be used for stipends, doctoral positions, etc., but not for the applicant's own salary or for permanent lecturer or professor salaries.
Stipendium för ukrainska forskare
SSMF (Svenska Sällskapet för Medicinsk Forskning) has allocated 10 million Swedish kronor to support Ukrainian citizens working in medical research who have come to Sweden after the outbreak of war in 2022. The grant provides financial support for Ukrainian students, doctoral candidates, and postdocs to conduct research at Swedish universities or research institutes. The funding can be applied for by doctoral researchers who have ongoing research grants from SSMF with project disposition rights. Support can be granted for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 12 months with the possibility of extension. The grant recipient must be provided with a research position at a Swedish university or research institute during the project period. The program enables SSMF researchers to host a guest researcher from war-torn Ukraine.
SSMF Starting Grant
The SSMF Starting Grant is a four-year establishment grant for younger researchers in medicine. It aims to give younger, promising medical researchers the opportunity to establish themselves and become independent researchers. The grant is intended for those with postdoctoral qualifications and includes salary funds and associated operating grants. Research can be conducted full-time, or half-time in combination with half-time clinical service, for example for research physicians. The grant can be used for research in all medical areas, supporting both basic and applied research. The grant period is four years and the disposition time for the grant is five years.
SSMF Consolidator Grant
The SSMF Consolidator Grant is a five-year research grant designed to support outstanding medical researchers in strengthening their position as independent investigators. The grant aims to support researchers who are in the consolidation phase and intend to further develop an already initiated and independent line of research. The grant provides significant funding to enable continued development of research groups. Applicants must be affiliated with a Swedish university or higher education institution, and only Swedish universities and colleges can be designated as grant administrators. The grant can be used for research in all medical fields, supporting both basic and applied research. The total grant amount is 11 million Swedish kronor including indirect costs, distributed over a five-year period with a six-year disposition time. Awarded grants begin on January 1st of the year following the application.
