Glaister Northern Scholarships
The Glaister Northern Scholarships are specifically designed to support low household income applicants from the North East and Cumbria who wish to study an undergraduate degree at Durham University. Two scholarships are available annually providing £4,000 per academic year. The award is divided into £2,500 for tuition and residential costs, and £1,500 for internships, international experience, or wider student experience activities. The scholarship is renewable for the duration of the undergraduate programme at Durham University, up to a maximum of 4 years funding. Applicants must have a household income below £42,875 as determined by Student Finance and be permanently resident in specific postcode regions (CA, DH, DL, LA, NE, SR, TS), with preference given to applicants in CA and LA postcode regions. The scholarship is available for all undergraduate programmes, including Foundation Years if applicable.
The Rector's Fund
The Rector's Fund provides financial support to students who face barriers in accessing valuable employability and development opportunities. Whether you're pursuing internships, attending career-related events, or engaging in activities that enhance your future prospects, this fund is here to help reduce financial obstacles and ensure equal access for all. Applications are open to students who can demonstrate how the funding will support their career journey and personal development. The fund is made possible thanks to the generosity of HPM Consultants Ltd and The Lucky Club. Individual awards provide a minimum of £500 towards summer internship projects, awarded as a one-off payment in Semester 2. Scholarships are awarded primarily on the basis of financial need, with academic merit also considered. Applicants must be matriculated 3rd-year undergraduate students who have already accepted an internship offer at the time of application.
