Litteraturprosjekt
This grant supports literary projects for books in Norwegian, Sami, or national minority languages (Kven, Romani, and Romanes). The purpose is to enable the initiation, development, and accessibility of projects that increase breadth and quality in the literary field in Norway. Literary publications can be in written, oral, or digital form. The scheme supports various activities including editorial initiatives for translated literature, critical text work on Norwegian or Sami classics, recruitment of literary voices and diversity expansion, translation to Norwegian of literary works by minority language authors residing in Norway, translation of works written in Sami languages, literary projects in national minority languages, literary projects by or for persons with disabilities, distribution of minority language literature and accessible literature, and publication of non-fiction literature on literary themes. The grant does not typically provide full financing, and applications are evaluated by an expert committee that considers artistic and professional content, project quality, relevance to the scheme's purpose, and feasibility.
Ny norsk skjønnlitteratur for barn og unge – selektiv innkjøpsordning
This selective purchase scheme is designed to support the creation, publication, distribution and reading of new Norwegian fiction for children and young people. The program is specifically aimed at smaller publishers who release fewer titles each year, helping them get their titles evaluated and purchased for public libraries, thereby contributing to literary diversity. The Norwegian Arts Council purchases books both in print and e-book formats (except for picture books, which are purchased only in print) for distribution to Norwegian libraries. The scheme ensures that quality Norwegian children's and young adult fiction becomes accessible to libraries throughout Norway. Books are evaluated by a specialized assessment committee based on literary quality, craftsmanship, and appropriateness for the target audience. Publishers can submit up to three titles per application deadline. The purchase scheme covers different genres including novels, short stories, poetry, drama, and picture books written in Norwegian (Bokmål, Nynorsk or dialect) or translated from Sami or national minority languages.
