Driftstilskudd (operational grants) are primarily intended to cover administrative expenses, materials for regular operations, etc., but can be used for the purpose the recipient deems most necessary. The grant is provided to sports associations affiliated with Norway's Sports Confederation or similar national sports federations. Support is given based on the number of members under 19 years of age, with membership fees required to be a minimum of NOK 200 per year. The grant is primarily given to associations or groups in associations that do not use municipal facilities (regarding the arrangement with free training for children and young people). Applications for operational grants must only be submitted by the main association. Subgroups are not allowed to submit separate applications. The grant amount is calculated based on member age groups: 1x NOK per member for children up to and including 12 years, and 2x NOK per member for children from 13 to and including 19 years.
