Wenner-Gren Stiftelserna

The Wenner-Gren Travel Grants are tax-free stipends intended as contributions for short-term active participation abroad in international congresses, symposia, workshops and courses. Funds are not provided for research visits abroad. Applications can be submitted twice a year, with deadlines on March 10 for travel from July 1 of the current year to June 30 of the following year, and October 1 for travel from January 1 to December 31 of the following year. Decisions on grants are typically communicated two months after the application deadline. The stipend must be used for the travel and within the time specified in the application, with the journey starting and ending in Sweden.

Cancerfonden's travel grant supports research-related participation in congresses and courses or short-term research visits at foreign institutions. The grant is intended for individuals working within research projects supported by the Swedish Cancer Society. The program covers travel costs, hotel expenses, congress fees, and other necessary specified costs for the journey. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year and are evaluated continuously, but must be submitted at least six weeks before departure. This funding opportunity supports active participation in scientific congresses for doctoral students who have completed their mid-term review or licentiate examination, as well as postdoctoral researchers and other independent researchers working within Cancerfonden-funded projects. For doctoral students participating in international high-quality courses, only travel costs are covered. Cancerfonden offers financial support for healthcare personnel working in cancer care in Sweden. The purpose of this support is to stimulate and increase competence among healthcare staff to improve the quality of cancer care. The goal is to enhance the care of cancer patients. The financial support can be granted for study visits, clinical observation/hospitality at oncology facilities, courses, and participation in cancer-related congresses/conferences. Eligible healthcare professionals include assistant nurses, nurses, physiotherapists, dietitians, and counselors. Physicians can only apply for activities with a palliative care focus. Applications must be submitted at least six weeks before the start date of the activity.

Svenska Sällskapet för Dermatologisk Kirurgi och Onkologi (SDKO)

SDKO:s Resebidrag is a travel grant offered by the Swedish Society for Dermatological Surgery and Oncology (SDKO) for its members. The grant is intended to support participation in tumor-focused courses or visits to healthcare units, in Sweden or abroad, where the recipient can gain knowledge and experience that can benefit their own healthcare unit and other SDKO members. The ultimate aim of the travel grant is to increase competence in Swedish healthcare regarding the investigation and treatment of various types of skin tumors and vascular anomalies. The grant does not cover congress travel or aesthetically oriented courses. Recipients are expected to disseminate the acquired knowledge at their own healthcare unit and report to SDKO's board and members, either in writing or orally, through presentations or publications. The grant must be used within 12 months of being awarded, and the recipient must contact SDKO's secretary within this timeframe to discuss the format of the report.

Svenska sällskapet för dermatologi och venereologi (SSDV)

SSDV (Swedish Society for Dermatology and Venereology) offers a grant to support Swedish dermatology specialists who plan to take the European Union examination in dermatology and venereology. The examination is organized by UEMS-EBDV Board of examination and takes place on September 25, 2026. The examination fee is €550, and SSDV provides funding to encourage increased participation from Sweden. The grant is available to SSDV members to help cover the registration fee for 2026. The payment is disbursed after the examination has been completed, regardless of whether the exam is passed or not. Applicants must submit proof of completed examination and a screenshot of the Swedish amount paid for the registration fee to SSDV's office.
