Stiftelsen för Njursjuka (Foundation for Kidney Patients) awards research grants to researchers working with patient-centered research on kidney failure and kidney donations. The research concerns patients with chronic advanced kidney failure or who are kidney transplant recipients and can be conducted at universities, colleges or other public institutions in Sweden. Research projects can be of a clinical, medical or psychosocial nature. The foundation distributed a total of 500,000 SEK in research grants in 2024. The amount can be awarded to a single project or distributed among several projects, based on the board's assessment.

Till Nanna Svartz minne

The Nanna Svartz Memorial Scholarship is a joint award from Reumatikerförbundet (Swedish Rheumatism Association) and Pfizer, honoring Sweden's first female professor of medicine, Nanna Svartz. The scholarship aims to encourage patient-centered research in Sweden and contribute to increased interest and awareness of rheumatological research among healthcare personnel, decision-makers, and the general public. The award recognizes both senior and early-career researchers who remain research-active with strong research merits. The scholarship of 150,000 SEK can be used for research or related activities such as education or study trips. Great weight is placed on the quality of the nomination and motivation, and previous nominations are not a barrier to being considered. The award is typically presented during Reumadagarna (Rheumatology Days), though the 2025 ceremony will take place at a different event in November.

Forskningsanslag

Radiumhemmets Forskningsfonder finances clinical patient-centered cancer research for improved diagnostics and more effective individualized cancer treatment. The foundation supports clinical patient-centered cancer research and translational research within Region Stockholm. To be eligible for a grant, the research project must have a clear connection to clinical cancer treatment or cancer diagnostics with direct patient connection or clear translational research focus. Applications from younger researchers are encouraged. The selection of research focus is based on the fact that basic and preclinical research has several other sources of funding, while patient-centered research has more difficulty obtaining financial support.

Neuroförbundet Research Grant

Neuroförbundet offers research grants for studies focusing on neurological disorders through the Neurofonden foundation. The grants support scientific research into causes and treatments of organic neurological diseases, with priority given to clinical research and practical applications addressing functional disability needs. The foundation primarily supports younger researchers conducting clinically adapted, patient-centered research that directly benefits members. Both small and large projects receive funding, with millions distributed annually. Basic research may be supported when aligned with the foundation's field of operation. The application period opens August 15 and closes September 30 each year, with decisions made in early December by Neurofonden's board based on recommendations from Neuroförbundet's advisory research committee.
