This grant program supports women-focused initiatives in reindeer husbandry in Norway. The subsidy covers expenses related to feeding and transporting reindeer, as well as other necessary costs for carrying out these activities, such as purchasing feeding sledges. Applicants must either be prevented from using their traditional winter grazing areas due to the lack of a reindeer grazing convention, or incur additional expenses as a result of choosing to use their traditional winter grazing areas in Sweden. The funding is available to reindeer grazing districts, siida (reindeer herding groups), siida shares, and individual reindeer owners from specific districts in Nordland (Balvatn, Saltfjellet, Ildgruben, and Byrkije) and Troms (Helligskogen, Hjerttind/Altevatn, and Gielas). Funding is provided up to the number of reindeer that each district was allowed to graze according to the now-defunct reindeer grazing convention.

This grant provides subsidy for transportation of reindeer in connection with slaughtering. The program covers two types of transportation: transport of live reindeer from collection fences to approved slaughterhouses, and transport of reindeer carcasses from slaughterhouses to further processing facilities. The subsidy aims to equalize prices for reindeer meat to reindeer owners in different reindeer grazing districts, enable efficient slaughtering and marketing of reindeer meat, and increase slaughter output before migration to autumn and winter pastures. To be eligible, the reindeer must be transported at least 25 kilometers between August 15 and December 31 for live animals, or between August 15 and March 31 for carcasses. The reindeer must be slaughtered at an approved Norwegian slaughterhouse that meets reporting requirements. For live animal transport, the transporter and motor vehicle must be approved for such transport. No subsidy is provided for reindeer slaughtered abroad.

This grant program provides funding to remove old, unused fences and fence materials that are obstructing nature, according to the Reindeer Husbandry Development Fund regulations. The purpose of the program is to remove old fence materials that hinder people and animals in nature. The fence materials must come from a fence located within the applicant's grazing area and is no longer used by reindeer herding. Applicants must commit to delivering netting, steel wire, and impregnated fence posts that are removed to the nearest approved disposal facility or use the materials for other measures. The program supports the costs of removing fences, posts, and netting from fences that are no longer in use.

This grant supports field kindergarten (feltbarnehage) services for reindeer herding communities in Norway. The program provides funding for organized, time-limited childcare for children below school age during periods of major reindeer herding activities. The grant covers the cost of childcare supervision, enabling participation of parents in essential reindeer herding work while ensuring children receive appropriate care and cultural education. Applications must be submitted within one month after the reindeer herding activity is completed. The funding is administered by Landbruksdirektoratet (Norwegian Agriculture Agency) with decision-making authority delegated from the Board of the Reindeer Husbandry Development Fund. Eligible applicants include reindeer grazing districts (reinbeitedistrikt), summer siida, reindeer groups (reinlag), or winter siida share leaders.

This grant supports the development and revision of district plans and reindeer herding plans for reindeer grazing districts and reindeer herding associations in Norway. District plans are important tools for public authorities and other stakeholders to gain knowledge about reindeer herding in their area, providing a solid foundation for safeguarding reindeer herding interests and development opportunities. The grant covers expenses related to creating new district plans or reindeer herding plans, or revising previously approved plans. The district plan must be prepared in accordance with the Reindeer Husbandry Act § 62 and must be approved within one year after the grant is awarded, though the Norwegian Agriculture Agency may grant exceptions in special cases.

This grant program provides financial support to cover the cost of hiring replacement workers in reindeer husbandry during pregnancy, childbirth, adoption, and death. The program is designed to help reindeer herding operations continue during these life events by covering actual expenses for wages, vacation pay, and employer contributions. The subsidy applies to situations where the leader of a siida share or their spouse/cohabitant needs temporary replacement assistance. The program specifically covers the hiring of relief workers during pregnancy/birth and adoption of children under 15 years, as well as in the event of the death of a siida share leader. Eligible applicants must meet specific requirements including minimum sales income from reindeer meat sales and proper registration in the siida share system. The replacement work must be arranged as an employer-employee relationship, and the relief worker must be over 16 years old and not have business income in the siida share.

This is a reimbursement program for course and continuing education expenses for reindeer herders in Norway. The program provides refunds for course fees, continuing education, as well as travel and accommodation costs related to attending courses and educational activities. The course or continuing education must contribute to developing and/or further developing competence for practicing reindeer herding. The reindeer owner must have their own approved reindeer mark and belong to a siidaandel or reinlag (reindeer herding unit). The leader of the siidaandel to which the applicant belongs must have a taxable sales income from the sale of reindeer meat with their own mark of at least NOK 50,000 excluding VAT, unless the leader meets the conditions for receiving establishment grants. Applications must be submitted within 6 months after the course is completed.

This compensation scheme provides support for expenses, additional work, and economic losses incurred by reindeer herders as a result of measures against radioactivity in reindeer meat. The program covers various activities including early slaughter, feeding in facilities, and feeding on natural pastures. Compensation is available to reindeer herding districts, siidas, and reindeer herding groups located south of Saltfjellet in Norway. The scheme requires that measured radioactivity levels from a representative sample of reindeer exceed the threshold of 3000 Bq/kg of reindeer meat, and measures must be pre-approved by the county governor. Compensation is provided according to established rates and covers additional costs for facilities, veterinary services, transport of reindeer to feeding enclosures, snow plowing of roads to feeding areas, and in special cases, disposal of reindeer meat. This is an extraordinary grant for emergency preparedness in reindeer herding operations. The grant provides financial support to reindeer grazing districts and reindeer herding teams when the emergency preparedness committee has declared a grazing crisis and at least 30 days have passed. The funding covers necessary measures at a rate of NOK 4.50 per reindeer per day, and support for moving reindeer from winter to summer pastures at NOK 0.18 per reindeer per kilometer. The grant amount is calculated based on the number of reindeer belonging to siidas or reindeer herding teams where a grazing crisis has been declared. The reindeer count used is based on the number reported in the reindeer herding report from the previous operating year, not exceeding the siida or team's established upper reindeer limit. To be eligible, districts or teams must demonstrate that funds in their special bank account for emergency preparedness are insufficient.
