Senior Women Academic Administrators of Canada

The Senior Women Academic Administrators of Canada (SWAAC) Graduate Student Award of Merit recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees. At least three awards, each in the amount of $4,000, are awarded annually to women graduate students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the university or general community while maintaining exemplary academic records. The award eligibility rotates among designated regions across Canada, including Western Provinces, Quebec, Atlantic Provinces, and Ontario, with varying numbers of awards available per region. Each university in the designated region may nominate one person through the Dean of Graduate Studies.

Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS)

Nipissing University

The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) and Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology (QEII-GSST) Program is jointly funded between the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and Nipissing University. The OGS and QEII-GSST scholarships are designed to encourage excellence in graduate studies at the master's and doctoral levels. The program provides financial support to outstanding graduate students pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees at Ontario universities. Students must be enrolled full-time in a graduate program at an Ontario university and maintain a minimum A- (80%) average. The scholarship recognizes academic achievement and supports students in their research endeavors across all disciplines of academic study.

Canada Graduate Research Scholarships - Doctoral Program

Canadian Institutes of Health Research / Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council / Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council

The Canada Graduate Research Scholarships - Doctoral (CGRS-D) program is a federal program of scholarships awarded through national competitions by the granting agencies: the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students pursuing research-based doctoral degrees across Canada. The scholarship provides financial support for up to 36 months at Canadian institutions only, with an annual value of $40,000 per year. Students can apply directly to the appropriate agency if not currently registered at a Canadian institution with a quota, or through their Canadian institution if currently registered. Results are announced on April 30th each year.

Yang Family Graduate Scholarship in Electrical & Computer Engineering

University of Waterloo

A scholarship, valued at a minimum of $3,900, will be awarded annually to an outstanding graduate student entering a research-based master's or doctoral program in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo. Selection will be based on academic excellence with a minimum admission average of 85% or equivalent and their statement of research interest as demonstrated through their application for admission to the program. Preference will be given to graduate students who have not received other named awards at the time of selection. This fund is made possible by donations from Oliver Yang, Steven Yang, Howard Yang and Kanchana Chiamvimonvat to support the next generation of engineering talent while encouraging them to study and complete their research in Canada. The award will be in addition to the student's guaranteed minimum funding for their first year and can be held in conjunction with other awards.
