MSc Social Epidemiology Michael Marmot Studentship
This is a one-year studentship for students undertaking the MSc Social Epidemiology programme at UCL. The studentship provides financial support towards tuition fees for outstanding candidates pursuing graduate studies in social epidemiology. The award is made on the basis of experience, qualifications and future academic potential, which will be assessed by an applicant's curriculum vitae and personal statement. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to write a 2000-word essay on a pre-defined public health topic. The studentship will be awarded upon the recommendation of an academic selection panel. The studentship consists of £2,500 towards tuition fees for the 2026/27 academic year. The recipient will be expected to secure the remaining part of their tuition fees and to cover their living costs from elsewhere. The award may be held alongside other scholarships, studentships, awards or bursaries, but cannot be transferred to another institution or deferred to a later year. Studentship payments will only be made if the recipient is fully enrolled in the MSc Social Epidemiology programme at UCL.
The IMPACT Scholarship
The IMPACT Scholarship is offered by UCL to support applicants pursuing the Master of Public Health (MPH) program who have demonstrated financial need and lived experience of inequality. Preventing and redressing the impact of inequalities is a core philosophy of the UCL MPH program, and this scholarship reflects that commitment. The scholarship provides up to £20,500 to contribute towards tuition fees for the online MPH program. Two scholarships are available annually for students studying full-time, part-time, or through modular flexible pathways, with funding applied pro rata for non-full-time students. The scholarship is available to both home and overseas students who meet the admissions criteria for the UCL online Master of Public Health program and have submitted an application for the 2026/27 academic year. Selection is based on applicants' descriptions of how their experience of inequality has shaped them, why they should receive the scholarship, and how they will use their experience and the MPH degree to make a difference to population health in their future career.
