This grant program from the Norwegian Directorate for Children, Youth and Family Affairs (Bufdir) supports continuing education for child welfare professionals. The funding is designed to help employers in municipal, private, and state child welfare services free up time for their employees to pursue competence development through master's degrees and other relevant continuing education programs. Employers can apply for grants covering education starting in fall 2026 or spring 2027. The grant covers up to 110,000 NOK per 30 study credits, meaning a 60-credit program could receive up to 220,000 NOK. The program underwent significant changes in 2026 to simplify the application process, including anonymous applications and single payments for multi-year programs. Employers must submit one joint application for all employees, and the funding is distributed in a single payment even for programs spanning multiple years. Additional support for travel and accommodation costs may be available based on documented need or distance to relevant education providers.

Kompetanseløft Trøndersk Landbruk (KTL) offers financial support for competence development activities for farmers and forest owners in Trøndelag region. The program is a 3-year project owned by Nord- and Sør-Trøndelag Bondelag, ALLSKOG, Fylkeskommunen and Fylkesmannen. The goal is to increase the competitiveness of Trøndelag agriculture through increased knowledge and competence. KTL provides grants for four types of competence development activities: experience groups (erfaringsgrupper) - fixed groups of farmers/forest owners meeting regularly to discuss professional topics and learn from each other; peer learning (kollegalæring) - groups administered by organizations where participants learn through discussions and study visits; mentoring arrangements (mentorordning) - formal agreements between farmers for guidance and advice; and professional training (fagopplæring) - organized by local agricultural associations with external speakers and study tours. The support is provided with a 12-month work deadline.

Telemark fylkeskommune provides operational grants to vocational colleges (fagskoler) in the county to offer competencies needed by the labor market locally, regionally, and nationally. Both private and public vocational colleges can apply for funding to support accredited higher vocational education programs. The grant aims to stimulate high quality and completion in higher vocational education while helping meet societal competency needs. The funding is distributed by the county based on allocations from the Directorate for Higher Education and Competence (HK-Dir). Eligible programs must be NOKUT-accredited or self-accredited within areas where schools have subject-area accreditation, with study locations or headquarters in Telemark.
