Andrew Renewable Scholarship in Engineering
The Andrew Renewable Scholarship in Engineering is awarded to a deserving student who has graduated from a Prince Edward Island high school and is entering first year of the four year Sustainable Design Engineering program at the University of Prince Edward Island. These annual scholarships are established at the University of Prince Edward Island by Bill Andrew and his wife, Denise. Bill Andrew received his Diploma in Engineering from UPEI in 1973 and became Chancellor of the University of Prince Edward Island in 2004. Bill Andrew is currently President of Penn West Petroleum Ltd. and is active in various community and philanthropic endeavours. He is a founding member of the Friends of UPEI group in Calgary, has a farm on PEI, and is active in PEI and national harness racing circles.
Allan Curran Engineering Award
The Allan Curran Engineering Award is awarded to a student entering third year of the Sustainable Design Engineering degree program at the University of Prince Edward Island. The student will have completed their first two years in engineering at UPEI and will have taken at least one philosophy course. Preference is given to a student in financial need. This award was established by Allan Curran, a proud alumnus of Saint Dunstan's University, Class of '62, who graduated with a degree in Business and returned to his family's business in New York, Royal Products. In recognition of his wonderful years at Saint Dunstan's University, Allan has established this award to support a student entering the third year of the UPEI Sustainable Design Engineering Degree program.
