About

Fulbright Denmark is the Denmark-United States educational exchange program based on a bi-national treaty from 1951. It is publicly funded by both the Danish and American governments. The organization offers grants to Danish citizens for academic study and research in the United States, as well as grants for American citizens to study and conduct research in Denmark. The program focuses on academic areas including sustainability, space, and life sciences, and aims to promote mutual understanding and academic exchange between the two nations.

Thanks To Scandinavia Grants

Thanks To Scandinavia (TTS) was established by Danish entertainer Victor Borge and American lawyer Richard Netter in 1963 as a thank you to the Scandinavian countries for their help in aiding Jews during World War II. TTS awards scholarships to students and researchers from Scandinavia and Bulgaria for studies in the US. Each year, three scholarships are awarded to Danish graduate students, including two scholarships for Master's degrees and one Victor Borge Music Scholarship. The scholarships must be used on tuition or tuition-related expenses such as books and university-related fees. Fulbright Denmark nominates candidates who have applied for the Core Fulbright Student Grant. Application decisions are made in May/June, and scholarships are awarded in the U.S. after arrival. The program prefers MA students pursuing full degrees in the United States.

Fulbright Schuman Grants

The Fulbright-Schuman program offers approximately 10-15 scholarships for study, research, and lecturing in the United States. Grants are open to European applicants within all academic fields of study, but their projects must relate to U.S.-EU relations or EU affairs. The program is administered by the Commission for Educational Exchange between the United States of America, Belgium and Luxembourg (Fulbright Belgium), and is jointly financed by the U.S. State Department and the Directorate-General for Education and Culture of the European Commission. The program provides different grant types for scholars (post-doctoral research and lecturing), students (pre-doctoral and doctoral research), and international educators. All projects must be relevant to at least two EU member states. The grants support research and academic activities in the United States for durations ranging from 3 to 9 months (one or two semesters). Benefits include monthly stipends (EUR 2000 for students, EUR 3000 for scholars) plus a one-time travel stipend of EUR 2000. The program aims to strengthen educational exchange and mutual understanding between the European Union and the United States through academic collaboration focused on EU-U.S. relations and EU affairs.
