Payette Sho-Ping Chin Memorial Academic Scholarship

The Payette Sho-Ping Chin Memorial Academic Scholarship is a $10,000 architecture scholarship supporting a woman studying architecture within a NAAB-accredited bachelor or master's degree program. To help the scholarship recipient establish contacts within the profession, she will be assigned a senior mentor from Payette for the scholarship year. This scholarship honors Sho-Ping Chin, FAIA, who was a leader in AIA and a long-time principal and healthcare practice leader at Payette. Sho-Ping was a talented and compassionate architect who was fiercely determined to design healthcare architecture of the highest caliber for those in need. She was also a wonderful mentor and instilled in her teams a sense of camaraderie and commitment to design. As the founding leader of the AIA Women's Leadership Summit, held biennially, Sho-Ping was instrumental in defining the national discourse for Women in Design.

The Delano & Aldrich/Emerson Fellowship

Since 1930, the American Institute of Architects has awarded a French architect a fellowship for travel and study in the United States. The fellowship was founded through an important donation made before the last world war by the American alumni of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts de Paris, William Delano and Chester M. Aldrich. The fellowship allows a young French architect to discover or better understand the United States under the most diverse aspects including architecture, urbanism, landscape architecture and interior design. The fellowship selects one candidate to travel to the United States for three months with a budget of $20,000 USD. The subjects are more relevant if there is a connection with current issues, such as sustainable architecture, net zero buildings, resiliency, a healthy built environment and inclusive design. Applicants must be French nationals who have graduated as an HMNOP architect or DE (or equivalent), between the ages of 23 to 35 years old. The funds can support one person or a pair team (2 individuals), with pair teams able to reduce the stay to two consecutive months. The three-month stay in the United States must be completed during 2026.
