About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on applied Earth sciences and applications of Earth remote sensing using data from the upcoming NISAR mission to develop methods and products that support social resilience to climate change and natural disasters. The research involves employing synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data, particularly NISAR L-band and S-band data, alone or in combination with data from other sources. The fellowship aims to advance applications of SAR for observations of high societal value related to coastal land resiliency, ecosystem response and adaptation, and disaster management that can support accurate forecast modeling for climate change scenarios. Fellows will investigate and advance applications of SAR, particularly NISAR data, and may use other SAR data including NISAR-simulated data sets from the UAVSAR sensor prior to release of NISAR science data.
