About This Opportunity

The Community Grant Scheme provides funding for community focused or charitable activities which sustain and develop the local community, represent value for money, show community involvement and are financially viable. The scheme is divided into three tiers. Tier 1 supports applications from £50 to £1,000 with multiple applications allowed up to an annual total of £2,000. Tier 2 supports applications of £1,001 and above for projects within individual or across 3 community council areas. Tier 3 provides funding from £200 to £15,000 for Shetland-wide projects, with £135,000 allocated annually distributed across three rounds of £45,000 each. All 18 community councils in Shetland are allocated funding from the Viking Community Fund on a share basis, with five-share host areas receiving £32,575 annually and single-share areas receiving £6,515 annually. Local community council decision making applies for Tier 1 and 2, while SCBF makes decisions for Tier 3 applications.
