Community Halls Grant Scheme

Shetland Community Benefit Fund Original Source

About This Opportunity

The Community Halls Grant Scheme is an initial one-off fund financed from bank interest earned by the Viking Community Fund in 2024/25. Five grants of up to £10,000 will be made from the fund to support community halls in Shetland. Grant requests can support a wide range of costs and activities, including equipment costs, maintenance, or refurbishment of community halls. Grant requests for running costs such as insurance and utility bills will not be processed. Applications need to sustain and develop the local community, represent value for money with evidence of high impact for the grant amount, show community involvement in development and implementation, and demonstrate financial viability with evidence that the project will be maintained beyond the grant funding period. The fund is specifically designed to support community halls in Shetland, with applications from other community buildings not being accepted. Successful applicants will still be able to apply to the Viking Community Fund Community Grant Scheme for future funding opportunities. The scheme aims to strengthen community infrastructure by supporting the improvement and maintenance of vital community gathering spaces throughout Shetland.
