About this opportunity
The Tjabal Indigenous Higher Education Centre in conjunction with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) offers the CSIRO Indigenous STEM Scholarship with the aim of supporting further engagement with Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) amongst Indigenous Australians. The scholarship provides financial support to overcome obstacles to education and offers an opportunity to engage with CSIRO and build a relationship and pathway into a career in STEM.
The scholarship is valued at $5,000 per annum for up to 4 years and is paid at the beginning of each semester, subject to the recipient meeting ongoing academic and enrolment requirements. The award is available each year to a continuing ANU student who identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and is enrolled in any STEM-related undergraduate degree program. Clinical, Health and Human Sciences will be considered, but STEM courses remain a priority.
Eligible candidates must submit a one-page statement outlining their journey to University, how they developed a passion for STEM, and how they connect to their culture through STEM and hope to use STEM to positively impact their community and/or culture. The scholarship aims to build relationships and career pathways with CSIRO for Indigenous students pursuing STEM education.
