About this opportunity
Established in 2021 and inspired by the University's 'One Sydney, Many People' strategy, this scholarship has been generously funded by the Faculty of Engineering. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage and empower students to commence an undergraduate degree offered by the Faculty by promoting equal opportunity. The scholarship provides financial support to commencing undergraduate engineering students who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, or are experiencing financial hardship, or are from rural, regional, or remote areas of Australia.
The scholarship is valued at $15,000 per annum and is tenable for the full duration of the student's candidature up to a maximum value of $60,000. Payments are made in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester, paid pro-rata based on enrolled units of study. In line with the University of Sydney's One Sydney, Many People Strategy, preference is given to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, then to financially disadvantaged students, then to students from inner regional, outer regional, remote or very remote areas of Australia.
The scholarship aims to support equality of opportunity for students commencing undergraduate engineering programs, including combined degrees, at the University of Sydney. Recipients must maintain full-time or part-time enrollment in their bachelor's degree within the Faculty of Engineering and are required to submit a testimonial on the scholarship's impact for marketing purposes.
