About this opportunity
The Federal Pell Grant is a form of need-based federal financial aid provided by the U.S. Department of Education to undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional financial need. Unlike loans, Pell Grants do not have to be repaid except under certain circumstances such as withdrawal from enrollment. The grant helps students from low-income households afford the costs of postsecondary education including tuition, fees, room and board, and other educational expenses.
Eligibility is determined primarily through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which assesses the student's financial situation. The amount awarded depends on the student's Expected Family Contribution (EFC) or Student Aid Index (SAI), cost of attendance at their school, enrollment status (full-time or part-time), and whether they attend for a full academic year or less.
