About This Opportunity

The Garrick Charitable Trust provides grants to professional organizations involved in theatre, music, dance, and literature in the UK. Named after the great actor-manager David Garrick, the Trust was established in 2001 using proceeds from the sale of the AA Milne estate to the Disney Corporation. The Trust focuses on helping professional organizations in need of financial support, with particular interest in supporting actors, directors, writers, musicians, composers, and choreographers in the early stages of their careers. Applicants must demonstrate that the funding will make a real difference to their organization's future, such as by raising the standard of performance or achieving bigger audiences. The Trust explicitly supports proposals which help professionals develop their careers with an element of genuine and significant mentoring or coaching. Organizations receiving a grant must wait three years before reapplying. In its first seven years, the Trust made 300 grants totalling almost £1.2 million.
