About this opportunity

The ICDF Engineering Indigenous Scholarship was established in 2021 from a gift from the Indigenous Community Development Fund to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying Engineering at the University of Sydney. The scholarship provides $31,000 per annum to assist with accommodation costs or living expenses for up to four years, to a maximum value of $124,000. This scholarship is available to Australian citizens who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons and who are enrolled or applying for undergraduate degrees in the Faculty of Engineering. Eligible fields of study include Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering (including Space Engineering), Project Management, and Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. Combined degrees are also eligible. The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit, a personal statement demonstrating passion for engineering, and confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identity. Recipients must maintain full-time enrollment and a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 50 each semester to continue receiving the scholarship. The scholarship is paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester. This scholarship may be held part-time in extenuating circumstances such as medical conditions, with approval from the Associate Dean (Education). The scholarship cannot be deferred without prior permission and is not transferable to another degree, school, faculty, or university without approval.
