About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on atmospheric lidar research at the JPL Table Mountain Facility, involving long-term measurements of stratospheric ozone, temperature, aerosols, tropospheric ozone, and water vapor. The position involves both instrumental work (design, implementation and optimization of lidar systems) and scientific research (long-term variability studies of atmospheric composition). Research priorities include validating satellite measurements and understanding atmospheric composition variability at mid- and subtropical latitudes, with emphasis on Upper Troposphere Lower Stratosphere (UTLS) studies in line with NASA's current science goals.
