About This Opportunity

The Department of Media, Communications and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London offers a limited number of competitive 100% fee waivers for the academic session 2025-26. These awards are specifically designed for students who are the first in their family to attend university and who demonstrate considerable academic potential. The fee waivers are available for students applying to three specific MA programmes: MA Cultural Studies, MA Gender, Media & Culture, and MA Race, Media and Social Justice. Successful applicants will demonstrate signs of significant academic potential, particularly through evidence of distinction and diligence in their prior BA studies. The fee waiver provides 100% coverage of home fees or the equivalent amount in pounds sterling for international students. These MA fee-waivers are awarded in addition to the Goldsmiths Excellence and Alumni fee-waivers. Applicants must submit a statement of less than 500 words confirming their first-in-family status, outlining their reasons for choosing their MA programme, indicating how the MA will help achieve their intellectual, academic, or creative goals, and making a strong case for their ability to complete the programme with excellent results. Two academic references are also required. The awards are selected on a competitive basis by a panel of MCCS academic staff, and only a limited number are available.
