About this opportunity
The Minoru Hokari Memorial Grant is offered annually by the School of History in the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences. The grant commemorates the life and achievements of Minoru Hokari (1971-2004), who made outstanding contributions towards 'crossculturalising' historical practice and developing respectful collaborative research strategies with Indigenous Australians. There are two awards available under this fund: a Fieldwork Grant valued at $6,000 to support travel and fieldwork costs, and an Indigenous Languages Grant valued at $4,000 to support research into Indigenous languages, with special interest in the Gurindji language. The funding has been provided by various donors, led by Minoru Hokari's sister, Yuki Hokari. Minoru Hokari was a graduate of Hitotsubashi University and ANU who conducted fieldwork amongst Gurindji elders during his research career.
