About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on Venus analog studies, examining Earth's hellish twin planet through terrestrial analogs, experimental results, and geochemical modeling to constrain the composition and mineralogy of the Venus crust. As we prepare for the decade of Venus exploration with multiple new missions, this research will help understand the exact composition and mineralogy of Venus's crust and how it interacts with the caustic atmosphere causing progressive weathering and alteration. The position is supervised by Dr. Justin Filiberto at NASA's Johnson Space Center and seeks highly motivated postdoctoral candidates interested in pursuing research using terrestrial analogs, experimental results, and/or geochemical modeling.
