About this opportunity

The New Avenues to Teaching (NAT) PATH 1 Bursary is a funding scheme offered by the School of Education at University College Cork under the HEA's Programme for Access to Higher Education (PATH). The programme aims to improve equity of access to Initial Teacher Education for underrepresented groups. The bursaries are competitive and needs-based, designed to support students from specific target groups including students with disabilities, Irish Traveller community members, ethnic minorities, target socio-economic groups, mature students progressing from the mature student access pathway, and lone parents. The bursaries can include various types of support such as fee or partial-fee bursaries, support towards costs of placement (including travel costs), assistive technology support, and additional supports. Students must be enrolled or have been offered a place on an initial teacher education programme at UCC to be eligible. The scheme covers several programmes including Professional Master of Education, Professional Master of Education (Art and Design), BEd Sports Studies and Physical Education, BSc Science Education, and BEd Gaeilge. Applicants must complete the Student Assistance Fund (SAF) application form and provide supporting evidence for their target group membership. All sections of the application form must be completed, and applicants may be required to attend an interview as part of the assessment process. The application period opens at 12 noon on Friday 11th October and closes on Friday 20th December.
