About This Opportunity

The Olof Palme Visiting Professorship is a grant program offered by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet) aimed at enabling Swedish universities to develop specific research areas by recruiting internationally leading professors for a short-term period. The holder of the Olof Palme professorship must be an internationally prominent researcher with a focus on areas of significance for understanding peace and conflict in a broad sense. This can include research on international politics, peace and conflict studies, and comparison of social institutions. It may also concern research on root causes of conflicts and societal development that affect conditions for peace and human security in various ways. The professorship's orientation is very broad and can encompass everything from overarching international institutions and societal structural factors to individual psychological explanatory factors. The visiting professor is expected to participate in the host institution's research and also visit other institutions in the country within their research field. The awarded visiting professor must be employed by the grant administrator throughout the entire visit. The university is expected to arrange a professorial installation where the visiting professor will give an open popular science lecture and representatives of the university's leadership welcome the visiting professor.
