About this opportunity

The William Hills Bursary offers three students £5,000 each year for the duration of their 3-year BEng Mechanical Engineering degree, including extended programmes. This bursary is supported by the legacy of William Hills, who was a former student of the University of Greenwich and studied Mechanical Engineering at what was then Woolwich Polytechnic in 1948. He was dedicated to supporting the education of a new generation of engineers. To be eligible, applicants must be studying level 3 qualifications (A level, BTEC Level 3, T Levels, Access, IB or other Level 3 qualifications) that hold UCAS points and will receive final results in Summer 2026. Applicants must have applied to the university by the UCAS 'equal consideration' deadline (14 January 2026), received an offer to study full-time on the BEng Mechanical Engineering course at the Medway Campus in Kent commencing September 2026, and be a new full-time undergraduate paying the maximum home tuition fee of £9,535. Applicants must be studying at one of the university's target schools and colleges. Priority will be given to submissions from those within underrepresented backgrounds (POLAR 4 Q1 and IMD Q1), and applications from women are particularly encouraged as they remain underrepresented in STEM fields. The bursary is awarded in three instalments across the academic year and continues for all years of the degree following successful completion of each year.
