About this opportunity
The Peter Høj and Mandy Thomas Indigenous Student Residential Scholarship is part of the UQ Residential Scholarships Scheme. This scholarship provides full accommodation coverage for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students residing at Kev Carmody House at The University of Queensland. Professor Peter Høj AC, who served as Vice-Chancellor and President of UQ from 2012 to 2020, and his partner Emeritus Professor Mandy Thomas established this endowed accommodation scholarship to support Indigenous Australian students.
The scholarship is designed to support the next generation of Indigenous students working to create change in their communities and in the world. It aims to address historic educational inequity in a meaningful way by removing financial barriers related to accommodation costs. The scholarship covers the full cost of accommodation for a standard room at Kev Carmody House for the minimum completion time of the student's program.
Eligible students must be domestic students enrolled full-time in an approved undergraduate program at UQ, be residents at Kev Carmody House, and demonstrate financial hardship through documentary evidence. The scholarship is specifically for Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, reflecting UQ's commitment to reconciliation and supporting Indigenous education.
