About this opportunity
This four-year PhD studentship is funded by Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute and focuses on systems pathology of the breast tumour microenvironment in obesity. The studentship is supervised by Dr Raza Ali and Prof James Brenton and provides comprehensive support for doctoral research in cancer biology and pathology. The fellowship includes full funding for University fees (both home and international students), an index-linked stipend starting at £22,500 per year for four years, student visa costs, and immigration health surcharge for eligible students. The research will investigate the complex interactions within the breast tumour microenvironment in the context of obesity, using systems pathology approaches. Successful candidates will be part of the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, which conducts groundbreaking scientific research in cancer. The position is available for both full-time and part-time study modes, commencing in October 2026.
