About This Opportunity

The Rosemary Valentine Memorial Prize is a scholarship established in 2020 to provide financial assistance to students studying voice or piano at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. The scholarship is funded through the Colin Valentine Bequest and is available to both undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled full-time at the Conservatorium. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit, personal statement, demonstrated evidence of disadvantage, and/or portfolio and performance. For postgraduate research applicants, research achievements and potential are also considered. Preference is given to applicants who are disadvantaged and in need of financial assistance, including those who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, have low socio-economic status, carer responsibilities, long-term medical conditions or disabilities, sole-parent responsibilities, or face regional or remote disadvantage. The scholarship value and duration are determined by the Dean of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in consultation with the donor's son, Nicholas. The award is offered subject to the availability of funds and can be provided as either a merit-based or equity-based scholarship.
