About this opportunity
The Ross Spark and John Breinl Memorial Grants Program is a scholarship named after Professor Ross Spark (1954-2013), former Head of the School of Public Health, Tropical Medicine and Rehabilitation Sciences at James Cook University Cairns, and Dr John Breinl (1918-2013), a medical practitioner and former deputy mayor of Townsville. The program supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students currently enrolled in postgraduate public health programs at James Cook University.
Eligible applicants must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and be enrolled in one of the following programs: Masters of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, Masters of Public Health, Master of Public Health/Master of Business Administration, or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Health or MHMS. The grant provides funding for proposed activities related to their studies.
Selection criteria include academic achievement, the proposed activity, and the impact of the proposed activity on the student and community. Applicants must submit a written statement explaining their choice to study Public Health, career goals, proposed grant activity, and a budget up to $1,000.
