About this opportunity
The St John's College Bandaranayake-Conaghan Family Residential Scholarship is part of the UQ Residential Scholarships Scheme, established in 2022 by St John's College and the Bandaranayake-Conaghan Family under the Create Change Scholarship Match Initiative. This scholarship provides financial support to domestic undergraduate students experiencing financial hardship to help cover the cost of residential accommodation fees at St John's College, University of Queensland.
The scholarship awards $9,000 towards accommodation fees for one year, though the amount is subject to the annual distribution from the relevant fund and may vary in some years. The scholarship is designed to support students who can demonstrate financial need through documentary evidence such as Centrelink statements, ATO statements, or family income documentation.
Preference is given to applicants from regional, rural, or remote areas, those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and students with disabilities. Recipients must be enrolled full-time in an approved program at the University of Queensland and maintain residence at St John's College. One scholarship is awarded annually through a competitive application process that opens in September and closes in February each year.
Applicants need only submit one application to be considered for all scholarships in the Aspire Scholarship scheme, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Scholarship Scheme, and the UQ Residential Scholarship scheme, making the application process streamlined and accessible for eligible students.
