About This Opportunity

The Centenary History of New Zealand and the First World War Heritage Scholarship is offered for candidates undertaking postgraduate research on topics related to New Zealand's involvement in and experiences of the First World War. The Centenary History Project (CHP) of New Zealand and the First World War is a partnership between Massey University, the New Zealand Defence Force and the Ministry for Culture and Heritage. It aims to produce definitive histories of New Zealand experiences during one of the deadliest conflicts in world history. This scholarship is designed for postgraduate students pursuing either a masters or doctoral degree with a focus on New Zealand's First World War history. The scholarship provides $4,000 NZD for one year to support full-time research. Only one award is available annually, and candidates must be undertaking a 120 credit research course related to New Zealand's involvement in and experiences of the First World War. Selection is based on academic achievements and the relevance of the research project to the scholarship's focus area. Successful candidates demonstrate high achievement and submit a comprehensive application including their CV, a two-page draft research proposal, and a personal statement explaining their study and career aspirations and how the scholarship will help achieve their goals.
