About this opportunity
The Conry Brauer Scholarship for Violin Tuition is designed to assist students undertaking studies in violin at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music at the University of Sydney. Established in 2023, the scholarship is funded from the estate of the late Mary Beatrice Brauer. The scholarship is available to both undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled full-time in coursework or research degrees at the Conservatorium.
The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit, personal statement, demonstrated evidence of disadvantage, and/or portfolio and performance. For postgraduate research applicants, research achievements and potential may also be considered. Applicants may be required to attend an interview. The scholarship value and duration are determined by the Head of School and Dean of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
This scholarship can be awarded either as a merit scholarship (automatically considered during admission) or as an equity scholarship (requiring a separate application). For coursework students, payment is made in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester. For postgraduate research students, the value is paid as a stipend on a fortnightly basis. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic performance and meet ongoing eligibility requirements to continue receiving the scholarship.
