About this opportunity
The John A. Murphy Prize in Irish History is an annual award established to honor Professor John A. Murphy, who served on the staff of University College Cork for 30 years and retired from the Chair of Irish History in 1990. Professor Murphy developed Irish History to a position of eminence both nationally and internationally and played a major role in the governance of UCC. The prize is awarded to recognize outstanding achievement in Irish history scholarship at the undergraduate level. The award consists of a monetary prize of €200 and a parchment certificate. The prize is funded through an endowment made by donors to the University, with the annual income from the invested funds providing the award amount. Due to investment market fluctuations, the exact value may vary from year to year.
