About this opportunity
The John B. O'Brien Annual Prize In History was established to perpetuate the memory of the late John B. O'Brien, who served as Statutory Lecturer in Economic History at University College Cork from 1970 to 1999. His wife and family have funded this annual prize of €250 to honor his legacy and contributions to historical education. The prize is awarded to undergraduate students at UCC who demonstrate excellence in specific areas of historical study. The prize recognizes outstanding academic achievement in examination papers or equivalent work reaching at least 2H1 standard. Priority is given to Australian History, followed by Economic History if no candidate meets the standard in Australian History, and then Irish local history if no candidate qualifies in Economic History. This award celebrates academic excellence in historical studies while commemorating Professor O'Brien's distinguished career and dedication to teaching economic history.
