District of Columbia Tuition Assistance Grant (DCTAG)

The District of Columbia Tuition Assistance Grant (DCTAG) is a state-funded tuition assistance program for District of Columbia residents attending eligible out-of-state colleges and universities. If eligible and awarded, DCTAG can pay the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition, up to $5,000 per semester, not to exceed $10,000 annually. Eligible students have up to 6 years or $50,000 in total assistance, whichever comes first, before the DCTAG funds expire. The program is designed to make higher education more affordable for DC residents by bridging the gap between resident and non-resident tuition rates at participating institutions. DCTAG does not cover room and board, books, or other college costs beyond tuition, and does not pay for mini-terms. The grant expires after the recipient reaches age 26.
