About this opportunity

The University of St Andrews is one of fifty higher education institutions to be funded by AHRC to help underpin the strength and stability of the arts and humanities research ecosystem as part of the new approach to funding doctoral study. The AHRC supports research that deepens our understanding of human culture and creativity, funding a broad spectrum of disciplines ranging from traditional humanities such as History, English, and Philosophy, to the creative and performing arts, including creative writing, drama, dance, and music. The University of St Andrews is offering three AHRC Doctoral Landscape awards for 2026-2027 to support students in the Arts and Humanities. Each award covers full tuition fees and an annual stipend at UKRI rates, currently £20,780 per year for 2025-2026. The funding duration is 3.5 years (or up to 4 years, to include up to six months of training or placement). Students must submit their thesis by the end of the funding period.
