About This Opportunity

The Baily Thomas Doctoral Fellowships were launched in November 2015 to support promising researchers to complete a PhD on topics relevant to people with learning disabilities (intellectual disabilities). Up to two fellowships are awarded each year in open competition. The fellowships fund the full duration of doctoral research, supporting studies that advance understanding and improve outcomes for individuals with learning disabilities. Applications are considered annually at the Board meeting in June, with shortlisted applicants interviewed during the same month. The program has supported numerous studies covering diverse topics including cognitive development, mental health, genetic syndromes, Alzheimer's Disease in Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorders, and care pathways for adults with learning disabilities. These fellowships represent a significant investment in building research capacity in the field of learning disabilities.
