About this opportunity
Bernadotteprogrammet is an interdisciplinary scholarship program offering a unique opportunity for researchers and early-career artists to deepen their academic work after completing a master's degree, doctoral studies, or postdoctoral level in the arts. Established in 2016 by five Swedish academies (Konstakademien, Musikaliska Akademien, Vitterhetsakademien, Svenska Akademien, and Gustav Adolfs Akademien för svensk folkkultur), the program aims to strengthen collaboration across different academic institutions and knowledge domains.
The program supports defined one-year projects (September to August) that must reflect the expertise areas of at least two of the collaborating academies, encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue between art forms and knowledge fields. Konstakademien's scholarship recipients receive 125,000 Swedish kronor, mentorship support within their chosen area of interest, and access to a studio at Fredsgatan 12 during the scholarship year.
Participants form a collaborative network with scholarship recipients from all five academies, providing opportunities to expand academic networks beyond their own areas of expertise. At the end of the year, each scholarship recipient must present their research work in an agreed-upon format. The program emphasizes cross-disciplinary development and aims to utilize the different capacities of the participating academies.
