About This Opportunity

The Bill Packard Scholarship is offered annually by Bruce Hall, a residential college at The Australian National University, to assist students in financial need who are relocating from outside of the Canberra region with accommodation fees while they undertake an undergraduate degree at ANU. The scholarship was established as part of Bruce Hall's 50th anniversary celebrations in memory of William (Bill) Packard AM, the founding warden of Bruce Hall who shaped the Hall's culture during his 25 years as Warden. Donors to the scholarship, mainly past residents, have contributed to promote and protect the sense of community that makes Bruce Hall a transformative environment where each resident is encouraged and supported to achieve their personal best in all aspects of life. The Hall continues to support and encourage engagement between the resident body and the broader University and Canberra communities, promoting active participation in discussion, debate and dialogue designed to broaden students' academic experience at ANU. The scholarship provides $8,000 per annum paid directly towards the recipient's accommodation tariff at Bruce Hall. Recipients are expected to remain actively engaged with the Bruce Hall community through participation and involvement in community events. The award duration is up to three consecutive years while the recipient remains in residence at Bruce Hall.
