About This Opportunity

The China Scholarship Council-UCL Joint Research Scholarship is a co-funded program between the China Scholarships Council (CSC) and University College London (UCL) that aims to expand educational, cultural, and technological cooperation between the UK and China. The scholarship supports PhD research across priority areas including the Faculty of Mathematical & Physical Sciences and IOE, UCL's Faculty of Education and Society. The CSC provides economy air travel to and from the UK, visa application fees, and an annual living allowance currently set at £1,350 per month. UCL provides full tuition fees for the standard duration of a full-time MPhil/PhD programme, normally 3 years (or 4 years for integrated doctoral programmes), subject to sufficient academic progress. Scholarships are awarded on academic merit and the basis of CSC priorities. Up to 10 scholars per year are supported in the Faculty of Mathematical & Physical Sciences, up to 5 scholars per year in any subject area in accordance with CSC priorities, and 1 scholar per year in the IOE. Successful candidates must return to China upon completion of their studies and research. Candidates must be citizens and permanent residents of the People's Republic of China, hold an unconditional offer from UCL, and first secure tuition fee funding from UCL before submitting an application for co-funding to the CSC. Applications follow different pathways depending on the priority area, with deadlines in January and final results published by the CSC in June.
