About this opportunity

This grant program supports measures that increase the knowledge base for municipalities, organizations, and others working with predator management in Norway. While these measures do not directly prevent damage or reduce conflicts, they can indirectly lead to more targeted and effective preventive measures and increase acceptance for coexisting with predators. The program funds four main types of initiatives: (1) testing new preventive measures against predator damage and evaluating the effects of implemented measures, (2) measures that clarify loss conditions including electronic monitoring such as GPS-based radio collars, lamb nodes, and drones, (3) research and investigation tasks that contribute to the development and implementation of effective preventive measures, and (4) national measures that increase the knowledge base supporting the dual objectives of wildlife management. Eligible applicants include enterprises with livestock production, municipalities and local communities, local, regional and national organizations, and research institutions. Applications are processed by either the Norwegian Environment Agency (Miljødirektoratet) for national-level projects or by County Governors (Statsforvalteren) for regional and local projects.
